چکیده
The adaptive mesh techniques applied to the Finite Element Method have continuously been an active research line. However, these are usually tetrahedra. Here, we use triangular prismatic element as discretization shape for a code with adaptivity. process consists of three steps: error estimation, marking, and refinement. We adapt already other shapes prisms, showing differences here in detail. five different marking strategies, comparing results obtained parameters. strategies conformation necessary avoid hanging nodes resulting mesh. also two special rules ensure quality refined show effect Manufactured Solutions numerical validate implementation introduced.

Hierarchical Partitioning Techniques for Structured Adaptive Mesh Refinement (SAMR) Applications
This paper presents the design and preliminary evaluation of hierarchical partitioning and load-balancing techniques for distributed Structured Adaptive Mesh Refinement (SAMR) applications. The overall goal of these techniques is to enable the load distribution to reflect the state of the adaptive grid hierarchy and exploit it to reduce synchronization requirements, improve load-balance, and en...

New a posteriori error indicators based on edgewise slope-limiting are presented. The L2-norm is employed to measure the error of the solution gradient in both global and element sense. A second order Newton-Cotes formula is utilized in order to decompose the local gradient error from a P1-finite element solution into a sum of edge contributions. The gradient values at edge midpoints are interp...
متن کاملAdaptive Mesh Refinement for Elliptic Interface Problems Using the Non-conforming Immersed Finite Element Method
In this paper, an adaptive mesh refinement technique is developed and analyzed for the non-conforming immersed finite element (IFE) method proposed in [27]. The IFE method was developed for solving the second order elliptic boundary value problem with interfaces across which the coefficient may be discontinuous. The IFE method was based on a triangulation that does not need to fit the interface...

متن کاملFinite element algorithm with adaptive quadtree-octree mesh refinement
Certain difficulties with the use of quadrilateral or hexahedral finite elements are related to mesh refinement and to element compatibility and quality after refinement. In this paper, special refinement elements are presented that make possible connecting two special elements to one edge of an 8-node quadrilateral element (2D). The main idea in refinement elements is to place some midside nod...
